Resist Transmogrification Laboratory

I think I’ve always seen beauty and potential in things other people would view as “garbage.” I built my first lamp when I was around 18 years old from a car exhaust & muffler I found laying in the street. All these years later I just built my second lamp from an exhaust system, this time from a motorcycle. There have been hundreds of lamps in between.  When I first started building lamps again a few years back I was trying to use up a supply of cigar boxes that I had.  These days I can see a lamp in almost anything: bike parts, meat grinder, washboard, tools, machinery parts, any and all varieties of wood & metal boxes.  I love to work with items that might otherwise end up the trash*, and I love to make lamps that are “fun.” That’s why I use a lot toggle switches and rotary knobs and things that are more tactile (and audible) than a standard lamp switch.

I like to keep my hands busy with a little bit of everything.  I started making jewelry at the beginning of the pandemic because I found the detail work relaxing.  I’ve also been writing for as long as I can remember, so you’ll find some of my books and zines on the website along with lamps, earrings, and whatever other odd thing I decide to build from time to time.

For the duration of the virtual West Bank Artist Market, shipping will be free.  (If you’re local, there’s a good chance I’ll make the delivery myself... by bicycle if possible.)  You can purchase projects here:
