Deeqa Restaurant
Deeqa Restaurant specializes in the popular Somali dishes of rice with goat meat, chicken suqaar, and sambosa—the most popular dish—in addition to the spiced Somali tea “Shahi”. Pre-Covid, Deeqa often welcomed student groups from local schools to the restaurant to sample Shahi and sambosa as an introduction to the Somali cuisine.
The restaurant frequently welcomes customers from different cultures and backgrounds and if it is the first time to try the Somali cuisine, Deeqa’s recommendation is to start with their specialty rice with goat meat or chicken suqaar. Deeqa is an active member of the Somali community and chose the West Bank as it is a great location accessible to everyone in her community.
The restaurant also provides catering services for special occasions like weddings and parties and has the capacity to receive all kinds of big orders. They are open seven days a week and their working hours extend from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and happy to receive orders by phone.
Meet the owner.
Deeqa’s Restaurant is a Somali Restaurant and Coffee Shop owned by Deeqa Hassan and her husband. When they started the business in 2011, it was a small coffee shop selling regular hot and cold beverages, Somali snacks and light dishes.
Over time, they’ve expanded to become a full-fledged restaurant and now serve any dish you can think of from the Somali cuisine. Their growth has been mainly influenced by Deeqa’s love for cooking and creating delicious dishes which she loves to share with others!
